Brief summary on achievements of Addl. DEO, Collector,  Mumbai City District for NVD 2025

Mumbai City District’s unique administrative & demographic composition posed significant challenges of slow voting, overcrowding, poor voting experience, urban & youth apathy in past elections.

To address these challenges, various innovative interventions were implemented under the overall supervision & guidance of Hon’ble ECI. Under this, intensive rationalization activity was undertaken to minimize clustering of polling stations and to address unequal voters allocation per polling station, resulting in better crowd management & smooth voting on poll day.

Further shifting of polling stations in Co. Op. Housing Societies, High rise buildings, slum pockets along with enhanced AMF facilities with innovative measures such as color coding, token system, waiting area resulted in better voter facilitation & enhanced voter experience.   

These measures coupled with electoral roll purifications causing significant increase in gender ratio from 849 to 862 and 25% increase in enrollment of youth voters in election year along with publicity campaigns such as “Know your polling station” letter to Voters with QR Code & google location links for locating route to polling booth and other targeted SVEEP interventions resulted into smooth & peaceful conduct of Assembly Elections with increase in voter turnout by 4%, earning accolades from voters, media & civil societies. 

Therefore Election Commission of India has Awarded Collector & ADEO for Best Electoral Practices Award 2024-25 on Date.25.01.2025
